Here's a pic from today's race. It was rainy and the course was all uneven pavement. The race was so unorganized. They didn't even have water to drink once we finished. They only had soda. I probably won't do this race again, but the swag was good.

Life, Motherfucker.
I have SOO much to blog about after meeting with my trainer. I will have to post again later after my massage. I'm preparing myself for the 10K now. I saw this meme and thought I would post it.

CAMPING!!
I just booked a CAMPING TRIP!!
I am so excited! Clinton and I camped at Hickory Hills about 2 or 3 years ago, and it was one of the best experiences we ever had. Most people like to go to Turkey Run, but I don't like how overcrowded Turkey Run can be. Hickory Hills is Turkey Run, but on a much smaller scale.
I love how the map has an area labeled "Haunted Woods." LOL...
There's also a bingo tournament Saturday night. I am definitely entering the Bingo tournament. I have been looking for a place to play bingo for awhile now!
I'll need to do some research on how to prepare my foods and workouts for the trip. This will be a little tricky, but it's definitely doable!!
TGIF!
OMG. This has been the longest week EVER! I don't know if it's because of the holiday weekend or what. I just felt like this week has gone by soooo slow, but the good news is, it's finally Friday!
Here's my totals from yesterday and what I ate:
At 6 AM: 1 serving of Hodgson Mills Buttermilk Pancakes w/ Flax Seed and Soy w/ slices of 1 Banana on top (AMAZING!!); 10 oz of Hazelnut Coffee w/ a tbsp of Bailey's Brown Butter Pecan Creamer.
At 9 AM: 1 Kellogg's Fiber Plus Antioxidant Protein Chewy Bar (Peanut).
At 12 PM: 1 Spicy Chik'n Boca Patty; 85g of Edamame; 1/2 of a cucumber, sliced raw with skin.
At 3 PM: 5.3 oz of Vanilla Greek yogurt; 1 Banana.
At 6 PM: 1 Jennie-O Lean Turkey Burger Patty; 1 Thomas Light Multi-Grain English Muffin (1/3 Fiber) w/ 1 tbsp of Tribe Spicy Chipotle Hummus (I put the patty on this...It was good!); 1.5 oz of Baked Shrimp (all I had left in the bag); 12 oz of milk.
At 9 PM: Fiber One Chewy Protein Bar (Caramel Nut).
Everything was a little high yesterday. My carbs were for sure! I know the protein bars that I've added in aren't doing me any favors. I just like the easiness of grabbing a bar to eat. I HAVE to watch my sugar intake too. Oh well, yesterday is over. I enjoyed what I ate!
Yesterday was back and arms day. I had an extremely long day at the gym yesterday. This was due in part to an influx of asians that decided to workout the same time I was. There's this one guy in particular who hogs the 17.5 lb dumbells that I need for my side raises. He is skinnier than a #2 pencil! I probably stood behind him for a good 10 minutes waiting for those dumbells. I tried to make him feel as awkward as possible. Many of the other guys at the gym were laughing with me at this guy. It felt good to know that I wasn't the only one being annoyed about this guy.
I'm so excited to be meeting up with Lynn (my old trainer from Fittek). She is going to help me figure out what exercises I can add/change to my program in order to tailor it to me. Sara (the girl who I had a falling out with) has a decent program, but I feel like I need something that is geared toward my goals. I can't wait to see what Lynn is going to come up with! I'll definitely post my workouts on this blog. I didn't want to do that before because I knew I was going to be making some changes regardless.
This weekend is Memorial Day weekend. I don't have too many plans. Tomorrow, I have a 10K in Decatur called "Race to the Vinyard." You get a wine glass at the end of the race! Pretty cool!

I'm also getting a massage from my friend Kelsey on Saturday! I'm excited for that! That is one thing that I feel I should make a habit during my training is a massage every few weeks. I might go shooting at a range with Clinton, but I am not sure about that. It might be busy because of the holiday weekend.
I'm running a 5K on Memorial Day. This will be the start of my THIRD year racing. This was the race that started it all. I'm excited!

NO FREAKIN' WAY!
I just found out that the weekend of my show, there is an Italian-American Heritage Festival going on!
There's pasta sauce competitions, bocce tournament, homemade wine competition, live music, etc. These dates are listed as 2012, but the 2013 ones are for the same weekend as my show and in the same town! I may have to hit up the festival after my show to stuff my face with pasta and BREAD!
SO AWESOME!

Kroppsbygging = Bodybuilding
I thought I would post my ab routine that I did yesterday in case anyone is interested. I typed it up to to show what I did. I can't really explain the butt exercises, because I don't know the names for it. Maybe I'll post some pictures of that another time.

All of these exercises don't require any weight. I did improvise on the Russian Twists. I couldn't find my 5 lb weights, so I just used my wallet. I figured my wallet full of change would suffice. I also had my trusty workout partner looking out for me!
Teddie was just sitting at the edge of the bed, watching me sweat like a pig on the floor! I love this puppy so much! He raises so much hell, but his cute little face makes me feel like he's worth it.
He sleeps with me every night. Some portion of his body has to be touching mine. Whenever I move over, he will move next to me. It gets a little annoying in the summertime when it is hot outside, but I love that he loves me!

Hard Work At The Gym
This week is time for MAJOR work. I am 12 weeks and under until competition. I ate too much bread the last two days. If I've ever had a moment of weakness and gave in, it was the last two days with a baguette. I don't consider it to be THAT BAD, but I felt guilty about it. Especially since I did it two days in a row!
Here's what I ate yesterday:
At 6 AM: 1 packet of BetterOats Apple n' Cinnamon (EWW...it's all I had).
At 9 AM: 1 slice of low-sodium, reduced fat Swiss cheese; 2 bars of Kashi Pumpkin Spice Flax Granola
At 12 PM: 1 slice of Brownberry Health Nut bread; 85g of Edamame; 2.5 oz of Jennie-O Ground Turkey meat; 5.3 oz of Vanilla Greek yogurt.
At 3 PM: 1 Boca cheeseburger patty.
At 6 PM: Baguettes w/ 2 tbsp of Tribe Sundried Tomato Hummus; 1 Spicy Chik'n Boca Patty; 1 Banana; 85g of Edamame.
At 9 PM: Fiber One Chewy Protein Bar (Caramel Nut).

Friday, I'm meeting with my old personal trainer from Fittek to go over my program and make some adjustments to tailor it more towards me. I'm excited for that. I also have a massage scheduled Friday night.
Lots to look forward to! :)
Today is ab day...I decided to stay home from the gym again and do my abs at home since I don't need anything other than a mat and some small weights. I also plan on taking the dogs for a long walk too.
"Can Love and Running Coexist?"
I wanted to share this article that I read this morning. I wanted to share it with you all because I love running. I owe everything in my life to running.
That is a really good point, and this applies to friendship as well. I have a rule when I run with other people: No One Gets Left Behind! I don't care how many times you tell me "go ahead," because I'm not leaving you. I have a good group of running friends who also share these same values, so it's nice to know when I'm struggling that I won't have to struggle alone. We motivate each other to keep going, even if it's at a slower pace.
I am a very competitive person, but when it comes to running, I take more pride in the completion of a race than the time it took me. And if it works out that I set a personal record, then it's an even higher feeling of accomplishment!
Can Love and Running Coexist? by Jennifer Van Allen.
"If the purpose is to run as a couple and strengthen the relationship, you have to set aside your own competitive goals and focus on the other person's needs."

People Who Talk To Themselves At The Gym...
HOW do you have a 20 minute conversation with yourself while cycling? This crazy Asian lady is asking herself if stabbing someone 57 times in the stomach is self-defense...WHAT?!
She's wearing slippers on the bicycle and has a backpack on.
Reeeeeeally wanted to snap a picture of her to show you, but thought I'd blog about her instead. Oh crazy people, you fill my life with so much laughter.
Finishing up leg day at the gym and heading to the sauna for a long soak.
Plates of Brownies With My Name on It!
So, I've noticed I'm not very good at posting what I ate over the weekend. I'm just going to list my totals out for the last few days.
Friday:
Saturday:
Sunday:
Monday:
Yesterday was extremely disappointing for me. Not only did I wake up not feeling well, I missed my 9 AM meal because I was sleeping off my sick stomach. I also ate my 9 PM meal later than usual. And I ate too much bread. We had a support staff appreciation event at my work and had lots of delicious food on the table (all of which I couldn't eat). But, I did find it funny (and pretty cool) that there were plates of brownies with my name on it. Check it out!

I think the catering people thought I was insane for thinking this was cool. I don't care...This is a dream come true minus the whole eating part. :)
I need to make some decisions regarding my competition suit. I'm going to email the promoter of the show to find out if there are some things I should be aware of. It says we need to pick out music, but I wasn't sure if that applies to figure or not. If so, that's going to be tough for me! I might need to get some advice from friends.
My mum is a high school English teacher. Her kids are out of school in about 2 weeks. I hope to be able to use the stage at her work to practice my T-walk. I've done some practicing on my quarter turns in the mirror, but need to start incorporating this into my daily workout. The hardest thing to do in figure is nail the lat spread. I think I've got it, but I need to practice it without the mirror as well.
This show is so much closer than I think it is. I'm a little over 11 weeks away from showtime. My diet needs to get stricter and stricter. So many things to do!

Patty Cake, Patty Cake...
I'm sad I didn't take a picture of my latest creation, but I made protein pancakes. I found the mix at County Market. It was PACKED with protein, so I decided to try it.
