Great Run This Morning...

I met up with Sheena to run a couple of miles this morning.  It was a good start to my day.  The only bad thing was that I saw how easy it was to run to Kirby Avenue near Custard Cup.  I'm not a big fan of ice cream or custard, but somehow it sounds good.  Maybe I just want the fudge and caramel...butterfinger pieces...*dreaming*

I haven't blogged in the last two days because I've been working overtime at work and fitting in my workouts.  It's been miserable.  Last night, I weighed myself again and I've lost another 1.4 lbs.  I'm close to losing 15 pounds from this journey, which is surprising because I've gained so much mass in my muscles too.  Anyways, I thought I would tell you guys about the meeting I had my the Dietetics counselor.

So, it is intimidating to see how much chemistry is involved with this kind of a degree, but it is exciting at the same time.  I had more courses than I thought that count towards my Dietetics degree, so that was good to hear.  My plan is to start off part time for now, and then eventually go full-time.  Since I can't attend school this Fall due to deadlines, I am going to sign up for a class or two at Parkland to get reacclimated to science based principles.  It's been awhile since I've taken a science class!

It's all very exciting though!  It sounds very competitive and it's going to be a challenge.  But, this is what I want to do, so I'm ok with it!  I'm also going to apply to the Dietetics program at ISU as well (just as a backup).

I got my shoes in the mail finally.  They aren't that tall.  It's making me wonder if I should have gone taller.  I might make some changes on that as it gets closer.  This week, I'll be sending out my registration for the show.  I still haven't done that yet!  Yes, I know...LAZY

It's going to be a struggle getting through this day.  I'm exhausted with work...I just want to start my new job already!  Come on, weekend!

Ridin' The Storm Out!

It's been storming like crazy!!  I drove in the craziness just to go to the gym. I thought it would be empty, but it was pretty busy. I got a good arm workout in even with all the people around.
This picture doesn't even do the storm justice.

Today, I had a day of roller coaster emotions. A coworker made me upset and I cried at work (to myself).  Enter the pity train...full speed ahead. THEN, I met up for coffee with a girl I went to high school with. She went through the dietetics program at UIUC and I had a good time asking her questions about the field. So, I came back to work in a better mood.  I met up with the Dietetics program academic advisor.  I will write more about that because there is so much to talk about with that!  All very positive and so exciting!!

It's The Little Things...

I've been meaning to post about these little quotes that someone writes on a whiteboard right before the locker rooms. I finally took a picture of it!  Most of the time, there are numerous spelling errors (it bothers me...I'm the daughter of an English teacher), but the overall message is always really good.

All too often we look at all the things we need to change about ourselves. It becomes so natural to point out flaws and underdeveloped areas of our bodies. Most of the time, we don't even notice it. You have to take the time to appreciate what you do have going for you.

So, I made today a leg day. I couldn't even think about using my arms. But, This is an increase week, so it was tough on the legs. I increase my weight by 10% every 2 weeks. I didn't want to do my ab set at the end of my workout like I always do, but I pushed through it.

I'm thinking about getting in 4 miles or so tomorrow morning.

AND, I'm super happy the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup!  What an exciting game!  I love hockey!

Holy Triceps.

My triceps are on FIRE right now.  I think I worked them too hard yesterday. I may change today to a leg day because my arm days include burnouts on my triceps. I'm afraid I'll burnout just looking at the tricep dip machine. My left tricep is so so tender. What the heck?!

I do have to brag that I just went grocery shopping after work and got in and out of the store in 25 minutes. That's pretty amazing!  Grocery shopping used to take me a good 2 hours because I like to price shop and I was always interested in what new flavor Cheez-Its are out. If I could capture myself (before training started) in a picture, this would totally do it:

Oh yeah!

Absolutely Pooped!!

Where do I begin?

FRIDAY, I received some really good news!  I am moving to a different department. I'm so happy because I'll be out of the hostile environment that I've been working in lately. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to work with a new shared services concept at work!  I'm hoping by July 15th, I'll be moved into my new office space!!

SATURDAY morning was the Xtreme Obstacle Run in Chillicothe, IL. It was very fun!  I enjoyed all the mud and craziness. Here's a before and after picture:

THEN, I came home and "napped" for 20 minutes and got ready to meet my coworker and her partner for a birthday party at El Toro. I brought my own food to the restaurant, which ironically included bringing my own guacamole!  I also brought lettuce, red peppers, almonds, and a protein bar. I wasn't too bothered by the chips and salsa. To be honest, the chips didn't look warm and delicious like usual.

SUNDAY was probably one of my busiest days. I woke up early to eat my first meal and then met up with Sheena at a corner (sounds kinda funny) and we ran together. I think we did about 7 miles today. I would have gone to at least 10, but I had to meet my mum for coffee at Expresso Royale.

It was good to catch up with her. After that, I came home for 30 minutes. I left to go work some overtime at work. I had to bring my lunch with me. I worked for 2 hours and then headed straight to the gym. I got my arms & chest workout in. I came home for an hour, only to leave and play softball. I hit a triple tonight!  We were down and came back to win the game.

LASTLY, I came home and walked the dogs for half an hour and ate my last meal. Needless to say, I am absolutely pooped. I'm taking a shower and calling it a night.
