More Change Than Tupac!

WELL, I have been pretty nonchalant about my unhappiness at my current job. I applied to other jobs earlier this week, and was hoping to hear something back. Well, something amazing happened today. A coworker/friend of mine asked me why I didn't come work for her. I said, "I don't know.  Why not?"  So, she talked to my boss and while he wasn't too willing at first, he is going to let me move to a different department.

I am really excited to start the new job. It's a new business concept that shares services between several different departments.  What makes me most excited is that my new boss is supportive of my schooling and told me that she will work with my schedule so I can go to class when needed. :)  That's the real icing on the cake.

Finally Got My Feet Out The Door...

I don't know what was going on this morning, but I got up at 5 AM (which really isn't early to me) and ran for 35 minutes.  It was a very, very slow start, but I was able to pick it up at the end.  The weather was perfect, and I need to do this more often.

Tomorrow morning, I have a 3 mile obstacle race in Chillicothe, IL.  It looks like it's going to be so much fun!  Check out this video from last year's race (and this is only the 1 mile course!)  I can't wait to see what obstacles are on the 3 mile course.  I'm going to be dead tired after this race.  I got tired watching this video!

I still have to make it into the gym though, so that's going to suck.  I also have to go to a friend's birthday dinner at El Toro.  That will be TWICE this week that I have sat at El Toro and not had a single chip or margarita.  Last night, a group of coworkers went to El Toro to celebrate a promotion.  They kept telling me they felt bad that I couldn't eat or drink.  I told them it was fine, and it really was.  I thought it was going to be hard, but I didn't mind.  I enjoyed their company so much, so that's why I think the delicious cheese chip, warm tortilla chips, and frozen raspberry margaritas didn't break me down.  I'll be in good company Saturday night too, so I'll be fine.  I might even sneak in my own dinner.

Oh!  So, my workout last night was AMAZING!  I left wanting to die, but that's a good thing, right?!  My shoulders were burning, but I could tell that I was hitting all the right heads in my deltoids.  The gym was pretty much empty, so I had a lot of room to do my thing, and didn't have to give any asians dirty looks.  Last night, Clint had to walk Teddie because he always pulls and I thought my arm would fall off if I walked him.

AND, it's finally Friday!  Thank you, little baby Jesus.  :)

WHAT THE HELL!

I didn't wake up in time to run this morning.  Granted, I did not go to bed until 11.  I just couldn't sleep.  I was thinking about changing up my shoulder routine for tomorrow, and when I should start incorporating negatives into my workout schedule.

So, I started looking at deltoid exercises for women and got all wrapped up in reading articles.  It's probably why I couldn't sleep until late last night.  While reading about these exercises, I realized that I am definitely hitting the right muscle heads with the exercises I'm already doing.  I just feel like I can incorporate a few more exercises into my plan.

So, I like the seated barbell military press.  It was named in several articles as one of the best exercises for men and women.  I already do a standing dumbell press, so I might swap this out for a barbell.

The other exercise that I felt was interesting was doing a combination of a Standing Front Barbell Raise Over Head to a Behind Neck Press.  The first exercise in this sequence would replace the front raises that I'm currently doing with dumbells.  With increasing the weight, it is getting harder to grip the weights and may be time to move to a barbell instead.

Standing Front Barbell Raise Over Head:
Standing Barbell Press Behind Neck:

You what's funny?  One of the best exercises to reach the rear heads of the deltoids are bent-over lateral raises (this is also known as delt raises).  I looked at all the different types and there's standing, seated, and lying.  Sara had incorporated bent over laterals into our program, but the way that she had instructed me to "bend over" was nowhere near how you should do it.  I've always thought I looked awkward doing these exercises.  I'm going to change my bent over laterals to the lying delt raises pictured above.

Lots of work to put in at the gym tonight...

No Eye Candy!

I had a great run with Sheena tonight!  We ran a little over 4 miles. I've never been a huge talker when I run, but we carry on a conversation the whole time. I always enjoy her company. :)

I came home and had 30 minutes until my next meal, so I drove over to Walmart (yes...I did not shower. I wanted to "fit in"). I went crazy on buying protein bars because Sheena and I were talking about them when we were driving back from Mahomet. I bought an entire shelf worth, but I wanted to try them all!

So...when I go to a grocery store, I like to stroll down the ice cream aisle and look at what new Popsicles have come out. I have an obsession with Popsicles. I might have mentioned it here, but, my remedy for a migraine is:  dark room, in bed, cold wash cloth on your forehead, and eat an entire box of Popsicles.

To my surprise...there was NO ICE CREAM OR POPSICLES at Walmart. What is going on? I heard about the recall on the beef today, but ice cream??

No eye candy for me tonight. :/

I was happy to find my favorite Greek Yogurt had a new Key Lime flavor with the same amount of macros as the Vanilla one that I like. I had that for my 9 PM meal tonight. It was really, really good!

I'm going to get up tomorrow and run.
I'm going to get up tomorrow and run.
I'm going to get up tomorrow and run.

There. I said it three times so its gotta come true, right?

Booked!

So, I ordered my shoes and booked my spray tan!  I went with 4 inch heels.  I was told by the show promoter that most girls wear 5 inch heels, but I want to actually be able to walk, and not look like a fool in heels.

Here are the shoes that I purchased.  They actually aren't very easy to find because they can't have a platform.  Platforms don't allow your calves to pop as much, so that is why they have made it a general rule.  They don't look very tall in the picture, but I've had 3.5" heels that I thought were insanely tall.  So, I think I made a good choice.  I just don't want to feel like I'm walking on my tip toes.
And, this is the company that I booked my spray tan with.  The lady on the phone knew a lot about bodybuilding shows and what is expected.  I feel confident in going with this company for my spray tan.  One thing that was interesting was that I need to wear dark, loose clothing for 12 hours after the tan is applied (both applications).  I remember at Sara's show, seeing all the people in sweatpants and dark zip-ups.  I should probably buy something (here I am...convincing myself so I don't feel guilty).

I didn't make it to run this morning.  I am running a trail with Sheena tonight, so I'm at least doing some cardio today.  I need to go grocery shopping and get my abs/glute exercises in too.  I wished I didn't work so I could just do whatever I wanted all day every day...workout, eat, sleep, and repeat.

So, for my 3 PM meal, I heated up a lean turkey burger patty and ate my Greek yogurt.  While I was in the microwave room at work, I was looking through these magazines that someone put in a share basket.  There is a food magazine.  I did look through it.  Guess what I found on the first page.  Strawberry, Banana, and Chocolate S'mores.  ARE YOU KIDDING?  Ughhhh....I miss crackers.

*sigh*

As Long As I Got My Suit & Tie...

I ORDERED MY SUIT TODAY!!  I can't even begin to tell you how exciting it was to press the "confirm order" button. I didn't end up going with red...I went with a metallic baby blue color. I just felt it was the one. I can't wait to get it in the mail!

Tomorrow, I'm ordering my shoes and booking my spray tan.  I will be sending my official competition registration in the mail this week!

I had a good workout tonight (legs, thighs, and chest).  It took a long time to fit everything in and I felt like I crawled out of the gym when I was done. I was so exhausted.  I still came home and took the dogs for a 45 minute walk.  So, it's safe to say that I'm pooped.

I set my alarm to go for an early morning run.  I'm having trouble getting more cardio into my workouts.  I changed my work hours at work in order to help with that.  We will see if it has paid off or not!

Breaking News!

Sooo...my exciting news is that I have decided to make a career change. I want to be an RD (Dietician). I started thinking about that Confucius quote I posted a few days ago and it made me realize that I cannot say that I love what I do.

I also met this amazing girl named Becky who just got a job as a Director of a hospice center. She literally makes people's dreams come true for a living. We were at a bachelorette party and randomly started a serious conversation about careers. I sat there and listened to her ideas on how to make her patients comfortable and happy. She made me want to get up and DO SOMETHING!  Seriously, words cannot express how inspired I felt after talking to her.  It made me question myself and what I was doing for other people. I'm not doing a damn thing sitting behind a desk all day, pushing numbers, filing statements and receipts, etc. This...just isn't me

What is interesting to me is that I've lived my entire life as if I would become a lawyer someday. It took a lot for me to come to terms that I may not want that dream anymore. I started to think that I could be happy living in Champaign and working at the U of I in business and finance for the rest of my life.

The truth is...I can't sit behind that desk anymore. I have never felt more certain in my life about something. There are so many different things I can do as an RD. I can't wait to get started.

So there it is!

I'm Still Alive!

Just wanted to let you all know that I'm still working hard...It's the end of the fiscal year, so work is keeping me busy...and unhappy.

I have important news to announce later tonight!  Some of you already know!
